Spotlight: The Wild Atlantic Way

The west coast of Ireland is named the Wild Atlantic way for a reason, it has some of the most awe inspiring scenery in Ireland. One of the biggest waves in the world, Aileen's Wave or “Aill na Searrach” (Foals’ Leap) is a legendary, mythical wave for in-the-know surfers. Legend has it that it is where seven Celtic gods transformed into seven foals – and leapt into the afterlife, furious at St Patrick for bringing Christianity to Ireland. The wave they left behind bears the fury of seven angry horses and then some. Rising farther than 3km from shore, it rears as high as 12m. It’s not for the faint of heart, nor anyone but the most experienced surfers. First ridden by Irish Surf Champion John McCarthy in 2005, Aileen’s has since attracted top international big-wave surfers in search of the biggest waves in the world to this stunning spot along the Cliffs of Moher

Spotlight: Smaller Towns

Ireland has some of the most beautiful villages and seaside coastal towns, I adore creating work inspired by the memories of summer time. Kilkee with its natural swimming pools, known as the Pollock Holes, Lahinch known for its epic surfing and towns such as Doolin and Doonbeg with its fantastic food and vivacious rugged shore. Lahinch has a beautiful sandy beach which stretches the length of the village and beyond provides some beautiful walks and idyllic conditions for fishing and swimming and in recent years has become one of the best known locations for surfing in Ireland. The town has numerous surf shops, bars and local restaurants which draw tourists in the thousands throughout the year. Adare is a small town in County Limerick, Ireland. It is renowned as one of Ireland's prettiest towns and designated as a heritage town by the Irish government. The heart of the village is the Adare Manor Castle which is now a 5* hotel with an award winning golf course.
